Of course, I would like to see Luc Besson get involved and approve the HD transfer and play a big part in the extra features.

The Art of The Fifth Element Featurette – A look at the designs and concepts for the film.
Visual Effects Featurette – A long at how Digital Domain brought New York into the 23rd Century, the challenges faced at a time when CG was just getting going, and how the film has influenced visuals since.
It Must not Be Found – A short guide on keeping The Fifth Element under wraps, with only minimal images released.
The Sixth Element Featurette – This would obviously need Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen to discuss how they broke up the script and reveal where the second film would have been heading. Details on the original ending for the filming would be very useful as well.

Full Version of opera Song -
Cannes MTV Special – The same footage that has already been released on multiple DVDs.
Deleted Scenes with commentary – There are obviously scenes that were cut due to editing decisions, but it would be good to see what Luc had considered but felt was better left off the screen.
World Premieres Archive Footage – The film received a lot of attention when released, so any footage of the worldwide premiers would be good to see.
Bloopers & Outtakes – The usual on set fluff ups.
Teaser & Theatrical Trailers – The countless trailers all together in one place.

Sony re-released The Fifth Element on Blu-ray with a newly remastered version of the film, in a similar style to the North American release. Unfortunately, no new extra features were created or carried over from the DVD.

Coming in at a high $249.99, the set will be limited to 150 pieces, which probably justifies the price. Currently, there are no details on what they are made out of but we’ll have news soon. The stones are 9″ high, with the statue 12″. They all come with 2″ high stands for added support.

From this timeless cult classic sci-fi movie we have created this amazing set of Elemental stones, surrounding the central statue – The Fifth Element. Each stone is approx 9″ tall and is presented on a display base themed around the Egyptian temple from the movie, positioned around the Fifth Element. The Fifth Element statue is approx 12″ tall. 14″ overall height including base.

There are only going to be 150 produced.

The Fifth Element comes to UMD for PlayStation Portable in the UK. There are no special features, just the film, which has been cropped from the original 2:35:1 to 1.78:1, so that the picture completely fits the screen.

Interestingly, the box features the BBFC “PG” logo and the Irish Film Censors “12″ logo, which is illegal under BBFC rules as both logos can only appear when the rating is the same.

To help promote the release of The Fifth Element in the UK, BT released 4 special edition phonecards which each had £5 on them. Each had The Fifth Element logo on one side in a different colour, with the other having a replica “multi pass” layout for the four main characters, which provide some interesting details, like their Date of Birth or address. Korben also has his face hidden by a “Classified Information” label.
